With Prime Minister Narendra Modi in attendance (as seen in the picture), and various other prestigious scientists from all over the world, the Indian Science Congress is probably the last place you would expect a presentation regarding ancient flying machines that could traverse the Solar System. For the first time in the history of the congress, a presentation was given outlining the depiction of these ancient flying ‘space ships.’
These flying machines have been depicted in multiple Sanskrit texts such as the Vedas, the Puranas and more. What’s even more remarkable is the fact that this type of machinery, and the concept of intelligent extraterrestrial life is not limited to ancient Sanskrit (Hinduism and Buddhism), but is found in several different ancient civilizations that span across the globe, according to many scholars and academicians. This doesn’t mean it’s true, but it does mean that the subject should be able to be examined with an open mind, without ridicule and condemnation.
The idea of mixing in a serious talk on ancient Indian flying machines when presentations on more rigid research and science policy issues are being discussed, at a major science conference, in my opinion, is great. It probably opened the minds of many who otherwise would have not even thought about something like this in the first place.
The lecture was given by Captain Anand Bodas, a retired pilot and head of a pilot training facility. The presentation was titled “Ancient Indian Sciences Through Sanskrit.” The lecture sent a jolt through the congress, and didn’t come without any backlash. A NASA scientist, Ram Prasad Gandhiraman was so upset that he started an online petition demanding that the Indian Science Congress cancel the lecture, because (in his opinion) it mixed science with mythology. According to RT news, here is one quote from the lecture:
“There is a reference to ancient aviation in the Rigveda (Vedic Sanskrit Hymns). The basic structure was of 60 by 60 feet, and in some cases, over 200 feet. They were jumbo planes, the ancient planes had 40 small engines. Today’s aviation does not know even of a flexible exhaust system.” (source)
These types of concepts and ideas have been gaining more popularity, which in turn has lead to mainstream television shows like “Ancient Aliens,’ one that is commonly aired on the discovery channel.
More Information Regarding Ancient Flying Machines In Sanskrit Texts
If you are interested in these concepts, you will probably find the “Vimanas” of the Ramayana, Mahabharata and the Samarangana Sutradhara very interesting.
The Ramayana is a Veda epic that dates back to the fourth/fifth century, B.C. These flying machines are also described in the Mahabharata, another ancient text. One of the vimana’s is described as having “twelve cubits in circumference, with four strong wheels and 20 to 25 feet in circumference and approximately seven feet in diameter.” This is one description of many, from various texts like the description Anand Bodas gave above. (1)
In one passage, a vimana is described as a “chariot that resembles the sun, that aerial and excellent chariot going everywhere at will, resembling a bright cloud in the sky, and the king got in and the excellent chariot rose up into the higher atmosphere.” (1)(2)(3)
“They roar off into the sky until they appear like comets.” The Mahabharata and several other Sanskrit texts describe at length these chariots, “powered by winged lighting, it was a ship that soared into the air, flying to both the solar and stellar regions.” (4)
The Samarangana Sutradhara is a classical Indian architecture text written in 1000-1055 AD. In it, whole chapters are devoted to describing ancient airships.
“It also describes types of machines as automotive, one stroke engine, remote-control machine and driver-run machine. Keep in mind, this is 1000 years ago. It devotes one full chapter on the building of flying machines. The book does not explain the process of building airplanes completely and says that it has been done purposely, for the sake of secrecy.” – Prabhakar Apte, MA and PhD in Sanskrit. (3)(5)
The Tibetan books of Tantyua and Kantyua mention prehistoric flying machines, which they refer to as “pearls in the sky.” In both books, they emphasize that this knowledge is secret, and should be kept from the masses. The list literally goes on and on and is quite interesting.

Again, various texts around the globe, according to many, seem to describe ancient extraterrestrials and UFOs. There is also an abundance of ancient art depicting these types of concepts.
“The Samarangana Sutradhara is a classical Indian architecture written in 1000-1055 AD. In it, whole chapters are devoted to describing airships whose tails spout fire and quicksilver. “The world ‘fire’ in ancient texts cannot mean burning fire, for altogether some forty different kinds of “fire,” mainly connected with esoteric and magnetic phenomena, are enumerated.” – Erich Von Daniken (6)

Real Or Mythical?
There is more evidence available today suggesting that these stories are real, as opposed to the evidence which suggests they are simply mythological stories that were made up and written about from imagination. I’m referring to the UFO phenomenon, one that continues to gain more attention around the world, and one that has been verified by dozens of governments. This phenomenon seems to corroborate in some form to stories that we find in various ancient texts throughout the world. I won’t go into too much detail here but you can check out this articles for more information on that, and visit the Exopolitics section of our website here.
At the same time, many scientists have concluded that very few of the craft it describes would likely be able to fly at all. There is no shortage of differing opinions on this matter.I have a hard time believing that the ancients spent so much time and detail describing these crafts out of pure imagination. What are your thoughts? Feel free to share them in the comment section below.
“We are not going to get any further with the old approach which scholars unfortunately still cling to: That doesn’t exist…those are mistakes in translation…those are fanciful exaggerations by the author or copyists.” – Erich Von Daniken (6)

Wake up people…..Governments work for us..
We want the truth…Otherwise we are SHEEP to the
slaughter…
But we need to do more research,a detailed paper on this with evidence on this before we put up these on the World otherwise we will look like fool..
“At the same time, many scientists have concluded that very few of the craft it describes would likely be able to fly at all.”
So they admit that some of these machines detailed would be able to fly… written nine-hundred years before the first machine capable of flight was created according to “accepted” history. Yeah… sounds like we should discredit and shrug that off /endsarcasm
I used to be all for empirical and peer-reviewed evidence, yet the more I read, the more obvious the scientific community’s agenda becomes. They simply don’t want to admit fault after centuries of discrediting anything abnormal.
Nice article, CE.
I see Vimana (or military craft) almost daily. There are several outside right now. The chemtrails are affecting them. I have thousands of photos of these craft. Please see IndustrialSurrealism on YouTube.
Even in India, NASA wants to suppress information. Shame on them!
Ancient Aliens is on History Channel, not Discovery Channel.
