Maya had suffered from a severe form of eczema since she was a young baby. At the age of one, red, flaky skin broke out all over Maya’s body, forcing her mother to resort to the conventional doctor-recommended treatment for eczema, steroid cream.
As supplemental advice, Maya’s pediatrician also recommended removing cow’s milk from her diet and replacing it with goat’s milk (about 15% of infants experience a dairy protein allergy, with common allergic symptoms manifesting on the skin). After doing so, Maya’s mother noticed an improvement, but this only lasted for a short while.
It wasn’t long before Maya began to experience constant colds, a side effect Maya’s mother figured was caused by the steroid cream. Steroid creams have a remarkable skin-penetrating ability, flooding the bloodstream and killing the cells that provide immunity against pathogens. Maya’s mother worried, however, that the cream was only covering up the problem rather than solving the root of the issue.
At the age of four, Maya’s eczema returned with a vengeance. Her mother had already decided not to use the steroid cream, and resorted to a naturopathic approach. She cleaned up Maya’s diet by cutting out milk, gluten, and refined sugars altogether, a tactic which proved beneficial, as she watched her daughter’s eczema disappear yet again.
When Maya turned seven, her eczema flared up again, worse than ever before. This time, however, Maya was also found to have candida and parasites. In desperation, Maya’s mother went to her diet once again, this time cutting out meat and eggs as well as sugar. But her efforts were to no avail, as the symptoms seemed to worsen.
After months of playing with Maya’s diet, her mother could see that she was ill from all of their efforts to rid Maya of her candida. She was losing weight rapidly, which her mother attributed to her inability to absorb nutrients. It was at this point that she was considering putting Maya back on drugs in fear of losing her daughter.
Once Last Effort to Save Her Daughter
Maya’s mother had tried everything she could think of, and her daughter’s condition wasn’t getting any better. Right before she decided to put Maya back on drugs, she came across a vegan community on Instagram which posted about how a high-carb, raw vegan diet was showing success in treating candida.
Although this sounded ‘wacky’ to Maya’s mother, she had no other option at that point. She tested out a 10-day banana diet before giving it to Maya, who noticed she felt fantastic during the program. She immediately started her family on a diet that consisted mainly of fruit, leafy greens, and healthy fats from foods like avocados, nuts, and seeds.
For the past six months, Maya’s skin has completely cleared up since going raw vegan, with only a few tiny dry spots left on her skin. Maya is finally at ease, and her family is feeling the benefits as well.
Today Maya and her family are happy and healthy, travelling the world and documenting their experiences on their YouTube channel, deHappy.
Is a Plant-Based Diet the Way to Go?
While a definitive consensus about whether or not a plant-based diet is the most beneficial dietary lifestyle has not been reached, many physicians have begun to recognize the health benefits of such a diet.
In 2006, after reviewing data from 87 published studies, authors Berkow and Barnard reported in Nutrition Reviews that a vegan or vegetarian diet is highly effective for weight loss. They also found that vegetarian populations have lower rates of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity. In addition, their review suggests that weight loss in vegetarians is not dependent on exercise and occurs at a rate of approximately one pound per week.
Another study found that vegetarian diets are nutrient dense, consistent with dietary guidelines, and could be recommended for weight management without compromising diet quality.
The Adventist Health Studies found that vegetarians have approximately half the risk of developing diabetes as non-vegetarians. In 2008, Vang et al reported that non-vegetarians were 74% more likely to develop diabetes over a 17-year period than vegetarians.
The only way to decide whether or not a plant-based diet is right for you is to try it out. A great way to begin is by reducing your meat and animal product intake gradually, such as limiting them to four days a week. Try switching out your traditional breakfast with a smoothie. Or if you really enjoy eggs for breakfast, try scrambling in some sautéed veggies such as spinach or kale. Analyze how you feel after making these small changes; if you notice you feel more energized, then begin implementing more plant-based recipes into your diet.
Reducing your meat and dairy consumption only a few days a week will not only benefit your own health, but it will also have a massively positive ecological impact on our planet. Try it out and let us know how it’s going in the comment section below!

This is nonsense. A theory based on a single case is not science, it is quackery. This girl suffered from a number of conditions, mostly related to some kind of immune disorder, probably congenital. What worked for her may not work for another child with the same symptoms. If the mother had put a bracelet containing molybdenum, yttrium and boron fibers around her wrist for a month the child may well have recovered anyway, while eating meat milk and sugar. Children often struggle with immune disorders which spontaneously disappear as they get older. Whatever quack diet or device was in use at the time of the child’s recovery is touted by other quacks as a “miracle.”
Maya’s story is just one, you are right. However to call something ‘nonsense’ even though it has shown positive results is not right. Many people have shown results in healing their disease with nutrition.
Maya’s mother tried the ‘science-based’ approach with steroid creams and they didn’t work. My father has been using large amounts of steroid creams for his psoriasis for years with no successful avail. My best friend used steroid creams for her eczema for many years and it also never worked for her. So one could call these expensive and toxic creams the real ‘quackery’.
I am one of those who cured my “incurable” auto-immune disease by changing my diet to a whole foods plant based vegan lifestyle. What some consider “food” in the U.S. is simply nonsensical chemically laden, disease causing junk. Factory produced products that Americans ingest is far from real food and is so loaded with chemicals that it is making this the sickest and fattest nation on the planet. To be fat IS to be sick and that is a scientific fact. I refused the “Scientific” approach of taking a pill a day for the rest of my life to “treat” my Hashimoto’s disease and instead did my research, talked to doctors who supported a natural and holistic approach to treating my disease and it worked. The S.A.D (Standard American Diet) is what caused my disease to begin with so by changing to what nature provides and eliminating all meats, dairy, gluten, and processed foods, my Hashimoto’s is in “remission” (aka cured) and I have never felt better or been happier in my life. I wish I had been raised on a whole foods plant based vegan diet because I would not have gone through years of misery bc of my auto immune disease. I also feel much happier spiritually because I am not consuming animals, animal products and am not contributing to their misery and horror. It is my belief that Americans would be a much happier, not to mention healthier, group of people if they all switched to a plant based vegan lifestyle. Hurray for Maya’s mother!
Well said m8
I agree with Jeff Roberts. When I eat a vegan diet it seems as if my Multiple Sclerosis symptoms lessen. I feel better, have more energy, don’t get headaches and have lost weight. What’s it going to hurt? Its a healthier lifestyle for sure!
Suzette, Have you heard about The Wahls Protocol? Dr. Terry Wahls cured her own MS with diet.
Having eczema myself, I can guarantee you that there are many reasons for this diet to help the girl. The moment I started eating vegan food, I started feeling better. A thing that many people with strong eczema get after years is asthma. I started having asthma, too, but after I stopped eating any dairy foods, it went away. I feel physically better without meat. I have been on and off for a while, before I went vegan and the difference is huge! I have been considering the raw vegan diet to treat my eczema. It is an annoying thing to live with. I am aware that there are worse things, but I would not wish anyone to have to go through this. It gets worse based on the nervous system of the body and trust me, it has a lot to do with the food, you are eating. For those, who cannot agree or just don’t want to get it, I will just say… you have no idea how amazing it is to feel a difference and for example not to wake up more than 1 time per night for the first time in years….
My son had asthma and eczema. He had the asthma first, the eczema came later. The doctor put him on steroids and it cleared up for a little but then came back. Then it was the steroid creams, only temporary relief. When I learned about beneficial gut bacteria and started giving him yogurt, the eczema went away. It rarely reappears, but when it does, he eats yogurt.
I agree.. Everyone’s body is different, might work for one person maybe not for someone else.. But everyone’s body has a chemical PH, a lot of times this gets out of wack can cause health issues.. More vegetables and fruit in the diet is good to a certain extent.., but your body requires something from every food group to remain functional and healthy, unless you have an immune issue to a certain food group.
Tell that to a cow, or a rabbit, or a gorilla.
The meat and dairy industry are the ones who made up the food group long ago. I highly recommend not altering food by heating (cooking) it. Your body wants real food grown on trees, in the ground, full of the sun’s energy. Cooked food causes the body to react as though there is an enemy attacking. Study and experience before you proclaim.
Hi Jeff. I am Maya’s mom. I just have found this article today and I am trying, but cannot recall you contacting me to share our story. I do not mind sharing it, but it would have been nice to ask or at least let me know, tag etc. Can you please adjust some information, especially contact info, so people can connect with me, also see how Maya is doing today and more stories like this one, that I share on our blog. Thank you.
We don’t even know if it’s working, it’s only been 6 months! But what can you expect if this is written by a guy who doesn’t eat properly; his brain is likely not functioning properly if he is vegan.
Feeling great Johnny 😀
I have struggled with eczema my entire life until I changed my diet. My diet now consist of mainly fruits, vegetables fish and hormone free chicken. No additives or preservatives in my food and I grow most of my own seasonings. I very rarely have flare ups and when I do it is usually after I have consumed to much of the wrong food. Quacks? I think not.
A raw diet is the best diet a human can eat. Good nutrition is so much better than poor nutrition, it is really that simple. To say it is nonsense is pretentious. And BTW, yes children do have intolerance and immune disorders that do go away, but often come back when they are older. My daughter for example was lactose intolerant as a small child, she grew out of it only to have it come back in her 20’s.
Eating real food is not a quack diet, I am sorry to have to say this, but your not he brightest crayon in the box. Educate yourself more please, not for me but to back up your mouth 🙂
Where you may feel that the article is on one side of the pendulum, your response is just as far to the other side. Diet/nutrition is proving more and more every day to be the true healer. Dealing with the cause, not just the symptom. Maybe this is just one story to you but I have quite a few friends who have had health issues that medicine could find NO answer for. But foods did. My boss is one such case. He went to every specialist around and they could find nothing wrong. With a few months of trial and error he found (even though prior tests didn’t show this) that he is gluten intolerant. Going gluten-free gave him his life back. This is just one more story but there are many more out there. This is truly NOT nonsense.
Hi Rthurs66.
Did you read the whole story? If not, please read it again. It is not about one case.
There are several case studies in Nutrition Reviews and Adventist studies as great example of success.
🙂
If you still think this is about one case, I suggest you be less rude when commenting under good articles like this one. Best then is not to post comments like you did otherwise your credibility goes down the drain.
I became vegetarian years ago and I have been enjoying the many health benefits since then. Compared to the story above, it happened pretty much the same to my daughter. She was frequently sick, and after changing the diet to vegetarian, she completely changed. We all enjoy the benefits of being vegetarian in the family. We feel we have made the right choice. And for us, it is a ” good sense” , not ” non sense” .
Best luck to you.
Where do you find that kind of bracelet?
You can call it quackery, but it worked in my life. I am now 64 with no aches, no pains, and disease free. The more raw vegan you are, the better you feel. Try it.
What are you afraid of most? that this is true and it works – because it does work -or afraid because you are so hidebound by the garbage so many people shove in their mouths and are afraid to give up – and you are, possibly one of these people? A mother will do everything – and i mean EVERYTHING to make their child’s life better! oh and this will work over and over and over because it is the right thing to do!
I believe these types of anecdotal success stories are valuable. People searching for help are finding other people with similar problems and sharing what worked and what didn’t. I have gotten more good information from talking to others than I ever got from a doctor.
You are so right, Bonnie. Those of us who feel it know; and we’re so grateful when people share their personal success stories because we are willing to try anything so that we can have a better quality of life.
Deborah, the problem with what works for one will seldom work for another because diets and herbs do not heal, they can trigger an immune response that will work but any proper placebo will do the job. Only the immune system heals.

Where can we find those bracelets?
Correct this would never pass double or triple blind studies because it was not the diet that cures it is the immune system that cures but rthurs666, the rest of your comment is quackery and pseudoscience because that is what today’s commercial science is at least as much as they RELY solely on HYPOTHESES which everything you said is pure hypotheses. You have no way of knowing what was the cause of that child’s condition because leading scientist can only speculate. They go out of their way to avoid facts, they avoid producing facts because facts make all disease easily curable.
Livestock medicine relies solely on facts and they cure all disease you beloved science can cure NAIL FUNGUS and they try to scare people off of that cure and that is all your beloved science can do because they sell hypotheses and your opinion or your doctor’s opinion amount to nothing.
You have no business commenting here because if you cannot cure and prevent disease you simply are not qualified. Not one published word on psoriasis is factual or remotely accurate unless it is from my information and because I provide cures I am indeed qualified.
https://www.facebook.com/beimmunetodisease
A Dr Williams uses a similar treatment plan here in New Zealand with great success. He has identified certain foods and food colouring as key triggers and has developed a cream to deal with the fungal aspects of eczema. He has released a book with his results and all his patients refer to his results as life changing. Maori Television’s program Native Affairs did a story about it and it should be on their website. Still a lot of disbelief amongst the medical fraternity but proof is in the results.
RIGHT ON TAKIRAU!
Finally ONE other person addressing the real issue here. Fungus is the real issue behind eczema and psoriasis and the MOMENT it is addressed as fungus the issue is over and relief is almost immediate.
rthurs666 is here to promote the science and industry that insures no one gets relief. rthurs666 debunks the false nature of this article by providing more false information from the industry that can ONLY cure nail fungus which by the way is indeed the cure for eczema and psoriasis as LONG as the people who use the drug also effectively use topical fungicides to eliminate all the fungus living on the skin surface the systemic drugs will not work on.

It is not a nonsense. A body has ability to heal itself, but standard modern diet does not allow it, along with stress, lifestyle, lack of sun, movement etc.. Raw food is so easy to digest and has all the things that body needs, so it starts to heal itself once again. Being patient and taking time to accomplish this my daughter have successfully healed her digestion. Immune system is there. Today she is eating some cooked foods back again without any problems. But we keep the healthy diet, so the parasites will not return. It takes very long time to remove all the “eggs” and “nests” that are deep in the body tissue. So it is not easy and that’s why it is looking like a single case. Would you sacrifice everything and leave it behind to help your child? We did. We took a break from life for over three years now, we left our career, our home, but we found our daughter. I believe anyone can do this if has strong motivation. Thats all it takes. I will keep sharing her story to help other people.
There are no magic potions and magic bracelets.
We need to change the way we live, eat and have fun in life, so the fungus will not eat us at the end.
By the way. My three kids had the eczema, only boys had it shorter and less. All three of them are eczema free since.
If steroid cream does not work, an ointment will. 🙂
It is a good idea to avoid steroid creams which treat the symptom and not the problem.
You obviously have never had severe eczema.
But it’s only been clear for 6 months, and she has gone years in the past without breakouts. This story is nonsensical and unscientific.
here’s the thing about meat, as much as we’d like to vilify it, we cannot. biological anthropologists will tell you that the entire homo branch evolved to eat meat. from early h. hablis, who were probably scavengers of meat, to the larger h. erectus/ergaster whose diets comprised overwhelmingly of meat (they also lived into their 70s). even the extinct h. neandrathalis had a diet that was primarily meat based. in our 6 million year history, the consumption of meat because of its high energy content(along with fire) is what allowed us to develop our huge brains.
evolutionarily, we are designed to consume large quantities of meat. therefore, it’s not exactly appropriate to argue that we would be better suited to a purely plant based diet. there’s not much scientific basis for this argument.
there is a caveat though. the animals that our ancestors hunted were game-type animals, who were very lean. therefore, we did not consume fatty meat. the meat we consumed was very lean. with the advent of domestication, about 10,000 years ago. we started to breed less lean and more fatty meat, which is not what we evolution designed us to consume.
eat what you want, but to argue that a meat-type diet is the poorer option kind of goes against our evolutionary design.
We evolved as omnivores(So we can eat both plants and meat) and the meat we eat these days is not natural, the ancient hunters you mentioned didn’t put animals in small boxes and pump them full of growth hormones and antibiotics.
Besides people who eat meat avoid veggies like the plague it’s not a balanced diet to eat large quantities of only one thing – You can’t survive by only eating meat, you can however survive by only eating veggies .
“Its not a balanced diet to eat large quantities of only one thing”. If only veggies is enough to live on then why the necessity for supplements??
The only supplement I consume, as a vegan, is B 12…which, yes, you get from eating meat, but is actually found in the soil. That is the one and only thing that vegans cannot get from our diet. Most vegans I know do not supplement any more or less than meat eaters and are perfectly healthy individuals.
Caitlin, I have to ask. What constitutes “perfectly healthy individuals”? In my work I reach many vegans who are diagnosed with HSV. The ones with HSV find me because they have tried everything to rid themselves of their social stigma and affliction and their diet doesn’t help them and I do. Now, 95% of those who suffer from HSV will also suffer from allergies and various other so-called autoimmune diseases. I know people like to consider themselves perfectly healthy if all they have is allergies but a perfectly healthy individual will not have allergies, skin disease of any kind or any other failings.
The reason I reach so many vegans is because they are often open to many different ideas except for the fact that humans are omnivores and they find me when others do not search through all the marketing propanda. I help a lot of vegans and I don’t jam the fact that they are scientifically and matter of fact omnivores but despite the unpleasantness of such a simple truth I do still point it out to them and tell them to eat vegan as a choice and tell them NEVER to lie to themselves because that is the slippery slope that leads to illness. Truth cures all disease and with ease. Go vegan as a choice but never pretend to be an herbivore, it is not wise. Eating vegan is not a healthier diet unless it brings extensive peace of mind but any diet that brings extensive peace of mind can turn a person’s health around short of diets of coffee, tea, alcohol and with massive amounts of sugar and carbs organic or otherwise. A well rounded diet is a healthy diet, just easy on the chemicals and carbs.
https://www.facebook.com/beimmunetodisease
I agree and I think it is grain allergies, sugar consumption and lack of good fats that are the root of most systemic health issues.
Humans and animals fed a roundup/ glyphosate free diet are way healthier. Quality of food is the main factor for health. One example is that I don’t do well unless I eat organically grown foods prepared in old traditional ways like sourdough, sprouting, fermenting with only unadultered salt (himilayan rock salt or unrefined non-iodized sea salt). I can not eat tomato or pepper seeds because of naturally occurring chemicals that preserve the seed. I remove the seeds to avoid arthritis and even the flavour is better. Sprouted or soured grains and beans removes the naturally occuring phytic acid which can inhibit good digestion and assimilation. So many people avoid the work involved in eating well. I enjoy growing my own fruit, vegetables, herbs, beans and chicken. I also enjoy properly preparing them. Check out Waiora’s Zeolite for a natural, gentle cleanse of heavy metals and toxins. I have never looked or felt better at 50 years old.
Plenty of people who perfectly healthy organic food and still suffer with the rest who do not. You are mistaken.
The primary determinant of health is the mind’s control over the immune system, not genetics, not exercise, not nutrition and certainly not natural or pharmaceutical medicine. You either take full control of your immune system for incredible health or you don’t . It’s as simple as that. Food is food and the lymphatic system can handle trace amounts of roundup. Blaming food is a sure way to human extinction. If people refuse to address the real problem it cannot be corrected.

I’ve been to the doctor several times regarding my son’s eczema. I happen to have gone on a 10 day smoothie cleanse and my son samples and loved them. His skin got better so I would try this for him. I know my own struggles with sugar and absolutely agree that diet has so much to do with the issues we experience (health wise). Appreciate the article.
She was found to have “parasites”? What kind of “doctor” was she seeing?
Im sorry but as a mom and a person who suffers from massive food allergies i dont think putting a child under the age of 18 on a strictly raw vegan diet is beneficial to getting the nutrients she needs to grow up strong and healthy. Just my opinion.
You just need to do the research in to what plants, have what nutrients. You absolutely can get all the nutrients from them. (allergies can make it much harder yes, but no impossible.)
These are five of the main nutrients in meat;
Iron – Soybeans, Lentils, Spinach, Sesame Seeds, Garbanzo Beans, Lima Beans, Olives, Navy Beans, Swiss Chard, Kidney Beans
Zinc – Sesame Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Lentils,
Vitamin B12 – http://www.healthaliciousness.com/articles/cereals-high-vitamin-b12.php this link has a lot of cereals which contain B12.
Omega-3s – Flax seeds, Walnuts, Brussels Sprouts, Cauliflower, Tofu, Soybeans
Protein – Soy beans, Spinach, Peas, Baked Potato, Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, corn,Garbanzo beans (chickpeas)
Next to them are vegan foods(highest value to lower) so you can get an idea of what’s out there, also keep in mind that a lot of items have crossovers with other nutrients. There are tons of nutritional websites out there that can help. See below for a short list I found/use.

Your list of foods will, indeed, provide adequate nutrition for vegans. Meat is not essential for adequate nutrition. But a strict vegan diet is expensive and requires close monitoring to avoid nutritional deficiencies. And most of the foods on your list require cooking to make the foods digestible and, in come cases, to neutralize natural plant toxins. Since the invention of fire and cooking, our digestive systems have evolved to the point where many plant toxins are no longer metabolized properly in the raw state. If you want to live on beans, corn, rice and veggies, you had better cook them first.
thank you for sharing this
info.
i agreed!, i am allergic to certain tropical fruits and very few vegetables, so it is hard for me to get good balance of nutrition from all the fruits and vegetables, but i found out if people eating and drinking grass fed meat and grass fed cow’s milk (such as raw milk), then you or your little ones wouldn’t suffer from eczema
DO NOT give your child raw milk or cheese made from raw milk. It is one of the leading causes of salmonella and listeria poisoning in the USA and can be fatal for small children. You can get “organic” milk which is safe and has no antibiotics added. Or use soy milk, almond milk or other artificial milks.
Not one thing you wrote is accurate. “Leading cause of salmonella and listeria”? Produce using conventional farming techniques is actually the #1 source of these bacteria. Soy milk is an endocrine disruptor and gmo. Organic milk is pasteurized, which kills off all bacteria, including beneficial. When pasteurized milk goes bad, it can kill you. Not so with raw milk, which turns to yogurt or kefir and provide beneficial enzymes to help you digest dairy. I only drink raw organic milk and cheese because they’re the only dairy I can digest. Why is this such a big deal in the US when most countries know the benefits of raw milk?
Right on SamE . I order directly from a small farm , my RAW MILK yogurt , kefir, whey, meats, eggs etc. The government only tries to scare people because they don’t want to lose money on their “milk” products. To the government, there is more money in disease than cure. I don’t know about you folks, but my grandmother and husbands grandmother had farms. And everyone drank RAW MILK. My grandmother lived to be 89 . With no glasses and no cane. In fact, an illness is not what killed her . She came to the point where she felt she lived long enough and willed herself to go peacefully. My husbands grand father just passed away at 92 because of a broken heart from losing his wife. Oh and I am one of those parents that won’t be vaccinating my kids:) you fools need to wake up and realize Americans are leading in disease because these western doctors/government are killing us! Do you even know that some of the foods that people buy in America are banned in other countries because it’s detrimental to our health? At the moment , I am going to school to become an Acupuncturist that studies EASTERN MEDICINE. So I dont one day have to succumb to western medicine’s death trap.
BTW, heads up to the person that wrote this article, what inspired me to study eastern medicine is because I had painful eczema that covered 96 percent of my body .i couldn’t eat, walk, move . Couldn’t work , I was just laying to die . Contemplating suicide, begging my husband to let me go. Until one last effort to save myself. I was referred to a seasoned ,English speaking Acupuncturist that Specialized in Chinese Traditional Herbal Medicine. My recovery within a month was miraculous! Of course it was a process. This is why I was inspired to one day heal those with medicine that has been practiced for over 1000 yrs.
Just a thought: Western medicine has been around 100 yrs or so. Eastern medicine has been here for thousands . I’ll let you figure this one out 😉
You don’t have to go raw to get healthy. The problem with the fresh food today is that it isn’t fresh at all. The fruits and veges travel many days before they reach our table, by that time they have lost most of their nutrients. Becoming raw foodist gives more fresh food intake which compensates the nutrient deficiency because you increase the quantity, also it helps the body to clear from the toxins and repair. Although this is really good move after some time the body becomes deprived of other important components and develops other conditions.;
I noticed my son’s eczema disappears every year when we go to the sea. Swimming in the sea causes the skin to absorb various minerals especially magnesium and in our case iodine (Black See is iodine rich). In addition to this the exposure to more sunlight increases the production of vit D which is another major factor. His skin clears completely within a week. This year after we returned from our holiday I am making sure he gets all those supplements to make it better through the winter.
In another occasion I advised a friend of mine with severe eczema to start taking olive leaves powder mixed with honey as this also helps to reduce inflammation. He managed to heal his skin within a month.
My 5-month old has severe eczema as well and we are trying to get to the root cause of it. I am working with holistic doctors as well as his regular pediatrician. I breastfeed. I wonder how this would affect my milk supply by eliminating meats. I already eliminated beef and pork by the recommendations of the holistic docs. My only worry is that I would not be eating enough or enough fats to keep up my supply.
I am a vegetarian and my kids 14 & 9 yrs old are born vegetarian. No health issue. My younger one had eczema when 5 months old. tried everything as usual. Finally bought a homeopathy book and ordered “Thuja” and applied my self. he is free from eczema since then. Don’t apply doctor’s supplied cream. Later it will come back as Asthma to the kid.
I would try eliminating one food group at a time from you diet. Going vegan all at once is pretty extreme and may not be necessary. I am willing to bet it is a food allergy. Try eliminating grains, peanuts, dairy, and other common allergens for a week one at a time and see how the baby responds. You can get fats by adding coconut oil and fat rich foods like avocado and nuts (roasted nut oil goes rancid quickly so if you like them roasted, roast at home). Be sure to take your Omega supplement!
Coconut and palm oils have a lot of saturated fat – not good for your heart. Better to use olive, safflower or peanut oils. Avocados and nuts are good, but buy your nuts roasted. Raw nuts often contain poisonous or unpleasant tasting toxins that are neutralized in the roasting process.
The scientific evidence that saturated fat is bad for your heart is questionable at best.
http://www.webmd.com/heart-disease/news/20140320/dietary-fats-q-a
And a web search can also provide many recent articles about this.
The real enemy in the world of fats are trans fats. The stuff people started replacing the good fats with in a misguided attempt to reduce coronary heart disease, which in all likelihood was making it worse.
Eliminating beef and pork from your diet is harmless and my benefit your own health by reducing your cholesterol level. But you eat fish, chicken, and hopefully some dairy foods. But a raw vegan diet would reduce the amount of protein in your diet to the point where your child would develop a serious, possible fatal protein deficiency. You can get protein into a vegan diet by eating legumes (beans, peas, lentils, etc) along with rice. I would recommend a B-12 supplement as well or your baby will be anemic. The problem with the “raw veggies” diet is that veggies high in protein generally need to be cooked to modify the proteins to make them digestible. And many beans have toxins that are neutralized by cooking, but harmful if eaten raw.
A vegan diet can be healthy if you can afford it and if you know enough nutrition to be able to combine elements in your diet to get all of the necessary nutrients. The traditional Native American diet of corn, beans and squash, supplemented with wild grains, fish and wild game, was quite adequate. I am not an extremist or a food freak. An all-meat diet would be just as bad for you as a raw-veggie diet. The human body has evolved to cope with a mixed diet of meat, grains and veggies. Eliminating any one of these from your diet is dangerous.
Just think about this, going bible just a few mintues. Adam and Eve live in the garden they were 100% VEGAN research what mans diet is Genesis and look at Deuteronomy what man diet was not to be. And after the flood God said mans diet was clean meat because there was veggies on plant earth do the Research. Be Bless
First of all, the Bible is a religious text, not a scientific text and has no relevance to this discussion. Second, we are no longer living in the Garden of Eden. Third, according to Genesis, Abel, the second son of Adam and Eve, was a sheepherder and sacrificed sheep to the Lord. And the Lord approved of his sacrifice, but not the sacrifice of Cain, who was a tiller of the soil. So apparently God is a carnivore.
Wait…what? Meat = good. Veggies = good. Carbs and fruits? Very little of each.
I would like to respond here RK too. In regards to the bible, back then man had not devolved to the point our species is today. Man has COMPLETELY turned away from how we are designed and or created. We have dismissed our natural ability to be healthy for the sake of economic growth. Today everyone BELIEVES their health is reliant on consuming something that will make them healthier. It has been that way since man created medicine. Medicine has to be sold. It has to be marketed it. It has to be trusted, and for the latter it doesn’t even have to do anything to warrant being trusted it only has to be heavily credentialed and consumers will believe what ever is written and published.
Our species today has never been weaker. Fungus, not candida is indeed our most deadly of pathogens. Our species is saturated with fungus because our species no longer has any quality of life except what we can make ourselves believe which does not aid us in your health because nothing is more destructive than belief.
I’m 45 years old and when I was in middle school and junior high there were very few kids with allergies now days there are very few without allergies. This isn’t because man is a fragile species, it is because man is a gullible species and we turned our backs on our own immune capacity and we scare ourselves to death through reading commercialized medical propaganda that say’s we are weak.
For the same reason almost everyone has allergies today we do suffer from eating grains and fruits, we are designed to eat them and should be able to eat them but NO ONE knows what an immune system is for anymore our species is saturated by fungus and the medical industry ignores fungus and they can ignore it because the “natural” industry ignores it too. They scream CANDIDA CANDIDA and then they sell no end of bogus treatments and diets and no one becomes the wiser. Candida is the least of man’s worries, fungus of all species is the problem and grains and fruits exacerbate the problem.

If you are eating fish and chicken (and presumably cooking them), you should be getting an adequate amount of protein. Red meat is not an essential element of a diet. But I recommend that you cook those veggies that require it. Cooking will make some nutrients more digestible for you and improve the quality of your breast milk. Also, cooking will neutralize some plant toxins that might otherwise seep into your breast milk and cause problems for your baby.

I congratulate Maya’s mom for going the distance and doing what was best for her child. Well done Mom.
Good job Maya’s mom I suffered from terrible eczema around my neck area, went to dermatologists many times and they were able to do but little help so I started doing some of my own searching and came across an eczema program, and I have no itching anymore and symptoms subsided already, and interesting enough this plan focus on self made creams and mostly diet changes, I found the plan below if anyone else suffers from this hope this helps, take care everyone.

Totally opposite to me to much chemicals on veg today..
So what do you eat? Ever heard of organic? or checked the chemicals in processed foods? My daughter was the same, but no where near as bad as poor little Maya. We also cut out a lot when we changed to the Paleo diet and it has worked amazingly for all of us. Was worried about calcium intake to start with, but now find we get it from so many other things. It’s a really hard thing to see your child in pain. Good work Maya’s Mom for finally finding an answer!
Organic is a bullshit term people use to sell you higher priced vegetables. If you are not growing them yourself your eating some kinda pesticide. Even if they tell you its Organic non-pesticide.
Not entirely correct, but close. Surveys by neutral parties have shown that somewhere between 50% an 90% of fruits and vegetables labeled “organic” have detectable levels of pesticides and/or herbicides. Foods with “certified organic” labels are more likely o be pesticide-free, but the accuracy of the label depends on the reliability of the organization issuing the label. Some do a good job, some are questionable. One big problem is that, even if an individual farmer uses no pesticides, his neighbours on both sides may be spraying and the spray can drift over the “organic” farm and pollute it. Where irrigation is used, water can be a source of pesticides and herbicides as well. If you want to pay extra for “organic” stuff, just be aware that you are probably reducing your exposure to chemicals, but not eliminating it.
I work in a produce department and EVERY organic produce has pesticides on it…. it has to have a significant less amount yes but most farms just use the pesticides before the crop is planted instead of after its planted. The only farmers that don’t use pesticides are the very small farms. The USDA organic label does not require being pesticide free so anyone large produce company that doesn’t use it, is at an insanely huge disadvantage.
Organic isn’t just about pesticides – it means non-GMO, higher nutrient content, animals raised on organic feed, with fewer antibiotics & growth hormones – and it’s easier on the environment. I started an organic diet and my kidney function improved by 25% in 4 months. Oh, and I find organic veggies are often more flavorful.
I don’t trust anything from the grocery store anymore… I have gone back to much of the way I ate as a child… Grow my own, get direct from the farm, go fishing, go hunting, raise animals, trade with others who have things I don’t… If more people stopped using the grocery store so much, the powers in the FDA and food lobby would take notice.. speak with your wallet!

Though the diet is a good healthy one, I don’t understand why she didn’t give her supplements to attack the actual candida and rebuild the gut flora with enzyme and soil nutrients. It didn’t mention anything about her treating the candida.Sure the diet helps starve candida to a point, but why not supplements to help rebuild her gut?
Boo, what makes you think it is candida and not any other of a hundred types of fungus? If the “natural” world would quit blaming “candida” for everything they will discover that there are many different types of fungus that respond differently than other types of fungus to foods, products and sugars.
There are many ways to cure eczema and psoriasis without trying to turn one’s self into a herbivore which humans are not.
The fact is the right over the counter fungicide will clear up almost any skin rash of any kind except poison plant like ivy. One person’s eczema might be a type of fungus where Monastat will work the best but another person might do better with Lotrimin Ultra cream or a generic jock itch spray.
Naturally topical products only kill the fungus living on the skin as deep as the product can reach which is why the drug Lamisil in tablets would be used to cure the fungus living internally waiting to cause a rash later.
HOWEVER, no one needs to use Lamisil Tablets if they choose to use their own immune system to cure fungus systemically. The human immune system works without the need of any products, knowledge and wisdom is all that is needed to cure one’s self of any disease. It is true the human immune system doesn’t kill pathogens like fungus living ON the skin, especially on dead skin so there can still be a need for topical treatment.
I came here to see if anyone has ever tried cannabis oil on eczema or psoriasis? Cannabis oil is trending as a “cancer” cure and if it will have any effect on “cancer” it will indeed work on some eczema and psoriasis as they too are fungal like “cancer”.

There are several effective medical treatments for candida. Diet changes are most unlikely to cure an infection once it is established. But some dietary changes, especially probiotics, may well reduce the chances of subsequent infections. A sensible option is not a choice between diet and drugs. The wise person will use both diet AND drugs to preserve his/her health. As somebody once said, “You need both the black keys and the white keys to play the Star Spangled Banner.”
Correct, diet will not cure candida but more importantly it won’t cure fungus and when people use the word “candida” they are taking away from the most important fact that it probably isn’t “candida”. “Candida is a catch all for all the types of fungus humans carry and transmit. “Candida” isn’t nearly as common as the “natural” industry pronounces it to be. It’s very misleading and a detriment to all reason and logic as well as cures and preventions. Diet will not cure any fungus but it will absolutely control it even to the point of eliminating all signs and symptoms but as soon as sugars and carbs are introduced again, it will flare up and that goes double for fruit.
I totally agree diet and drugs will cure pretty much any fungal disease which is to say Lamisil tablets with topical products because Lamisil tablets will not cure or kill fungus living on the skin or in the vaginal cavities.
The reason the medical industry does not prescribe Lamisil on a regular basis is because it will cure numerous diseases when used which means a dozen or more DISEASE INDUSTRIES will be lost. Lamisil is BELIEVED to be very dangerous and harmful but out of thousands I know who have taken it, only a couple claim to have noticed mild side effects like loss of taste for a day which could have been because of fungus in the first place and not related to the drug. Furthermore, anyone who has tested with a weak liver test with a perfect liver after a month of Lamisil which probably means Lamisil will cure many liver diseases and save many lives.
I lost interest in probiotics years ago. My work is about providing immunity which also means providing cures and anything less than total immunity to all disease is failure which is to say immunity is the cure for all diseases and anything short is unacceptable and because of this I have found no value in probiotics, Save the money and spend it on better food and entertainment because peace of mind will do more for a gut than any product on the market.

Cannabis oils applied directly and tinctures work for a host of things… I have never tried it personally, but it would be one of my choices if I needed it.. Western medicine leave much lacking… I am an OMNIVORE. But, the meat I choose to eat is rarely from the grocery store…
Yes essential oils may work, even cannabis oil, but only if they are made into an effective placebo. They couldn’t be secretly applied and expected to work, the person would have to believe in them to work but plain old over the counter fungicides will work without belief in them because they kill fungus and they have no harmful side effects at all. Cannabis oil would likely have as much side effect or more. Why use something that has a 1 in a 100 chances of working when you can have something that will work?
No one should be against effective medicine they should be against ineffective medicine and when it comes ineffective medicine, herbs, oils and other “natural” medicine is the most ineffective on the market.

Boo, If your immune system is strong it will combat and override any body ailments, we are no different than plants, give a plant the wrong food or no food at all and it will suffer.
with correct eating of a vegan or vegetarian diet you will live a long and trouble free life, My wife reversed the effects of osteoporosis, she was so bad she couldn’t walk in the mornings, now she walks km every day she has so much energy I can’t keep up with her, she is a dynamo, she tossed all of the pills the doctors were feeding her, which had huge side effects and i think darn near killed her, she has cured herself on correct eating and 2 Lt of water a day and lots of exercise.
be careful of supplements, some of them are not all they make them out to be, and all these pills we take, in the long run they are just as bad as the problem you are trying to cure.
Look good! I also found eczema. My doctor said it has many causes, including: stress, anxiety and no proper nutrition. Now I take vitamins, sitting on dieti and using ointment.
Actually, I would like to point out that raw, vegan or vegetarian diets were not the reason of her recovery. What cured her was the parasite cleanses. In this case, she was on a diet that Candidas didn’t like. There are other parasites, more than 140 could be in human bodies, and some are found to be the causes of autoimmune deseaseis. Once again, we need to look at the total health, not just one kind of miracle food or diet.
Shui, should you use the word “candida”? There are a dozens of strains of fungus that can cause psoriasis or eczema not parasites. You believe it was the “parasite cleanses” but I believe it was the child’s own immune system as it is extremely common for children to grow out of psoriasis and eczema. Not all do but it is quite common. The words “candida” and “parasites” have run their course. People have been doing cleanses for the two for over 20 years with no results at all. Anyone enjoying results after a gimmick cleanse do so because their immune system took charge not because of the cleanse.
The right over the counter fungicide will eliminate any eczema or psoriasis rash. The disease is only cured when the body develops immunity to fungus in general. This means only the immune system can cure. We should all be thankful we have immune systems and we should all learn how to use them as they are designed to be used. Say not to products and say POWER TO THE IMMUNE SYSTEM. 🙂

I thought I’d leave my experience here since we’re just talking theoreticals. I’ve done many diets over the years that have probably done more harm than good. It wasn’t until I started doing a bentonite clay detox with psyllium husk is when I’ve had the most success. My gut inflammation was so bad I could feel it in my eardrum whenever I ate something. After 4 days of the cleanses 3x day, a lot of symptoms disappeared and I even lost weight. I found out 90% of the population have gut dysbiosis and it’s not just in 3rd world countries. It comes from contaminated water, soil, food and medication. Since 70% of your immune system is located in your gut, cleansing should take the priority. I’m a firm believer in probiotics as well but you should not have to take them the rest of your life. Since not all are created equal, you have to get at least 15-30 billion and 10 different strains and make sure you get them fresh and kept in the fridge. I’ve been doing these cleanses for 2 weeks and I make sure to supplement with vitamins and probiotics 2 hours in between. Not only have I lost weight, but my cavities and gum recession are healing. I haven’t followed a strict diet but it is very low carb. I can taste sweetness again in vegetables and high-sugar foods are off-putting to my palate and now prefer savory foods. My cravings for sugar are also almost gone. I plan to stay on this detox for 100 days because the life cycle of parasitic microorganisms is 90 days and you have a couple days lag. I also added a tincture of black walnut hull (green), wormwood and cloves that gets rid of all the worms. Yes, we are talking real worms and sorry for tmi but you can see them in your stool along with worm eggs. The way I look at it is I’d rather flush those things out my body than have them grow fat on my food and rob me of nutrition.
Awesome results. We get many many people contacting us to say that our hemp seed oil products have done the same thing for their children along with a wholesome plant based diet. Our skin needs beneficial fatty acids

I have a product that either gets rid of Eczema or helps tremendously Visi. Also got rid of mine and a whole lot of others Arthritis. http://www.viewvisi.com look at a new to market product that is for real. Kathy Ballinger 503-807-9476. you can find me on facebook.
Eating cleaner is something we all need to do but when it actually gets down to it, you are opening a whole can of worms. As a single mother who works 2 jobs and is in dire need of R & R (this is about the only time I get; a few minutes before bed) I don’t see a life style change like this possible without a huge upheaval. Such as, reconsidering my budget, making time to actually get to a farmer’s market or wherever to buy the stuff, fighting a teenager to change his eating habits, planning meals, finding new recipes, all while trying to fight the urge for that cheep, processed, fast, hamburger that would probably taste better than anything I could ever make. I think this is how most people feel when faced with a life change like this. Otherwise we would all be vegan and healthy. So. My point is, where is that “start small” point that people are mostly looking for? Where does someone go from grabbing a pizza on the way home from working a 14 hour day to drinking a smoothie and enjoying a fresh home grown meal?
I steam all my vegetables don’t eat a lot of meat I and I think it is a good idea to try anything if it works continue it may not work for everyone because we’re not all the same I have eczema and I found eating fresh vegetables and steaming instead of boiling them is healthier and I have garlic I cook in steam with the veg’s in a steamer I have breakfast every morning bacon and hash browns and a single egg and a light meal in the after noon I have had many people surprised to find out I was older then them at 68 I even feel healthier then they say they are I know most of my friends eat in a cafe and don’t cook and some drink a beer ounce a day is good for you it’s the yeast in it and the hops I still use the ointment witch I changed from a cream after a doctor told me because I have dry skin ointment is better and I found he was right thank you for sharing this with me
This is awesome…I personally had the same type of reaction upon going through menopause. My body was just attacked by the eczema….I looked awful. I know have a vegetable/fruit smoothie and most veggies/fish-seafood for my diet. My skin is now clear and I feel great and the weight is now finally moving from my body.
